rbTechnologies has been building and installing standards based, Open Source firewalls for well in excess of 10 years. Some features of our current flagship Firewall product:

These firewall systems are directly competitive with enterprise offerings from all major Firewall device manufacturers, but at 1/3 to ¼ of the cost (theirs: ~$7,500-$10,000 plus additional feature licenses! Ours: under $3,500.)
We also offer firewall and network edge devices with less CPU and smaller throughput capacity starting at $450. All are designed, specced and built by rbTech, here in Vermont, and supported directly by our staff. All firewall devices come with a 3 year hardware warranty.

Background: rbTechnologies started building custom designed Firewall systems in 1999, after realizing that there was a gap in the marketplace. There were (and still are!) plenty of offerings for network security devices aimed at 'enterprises' with thousands of users. They are expensive (starting at $7,500, and go up to $30-50k!) and require specially and highly trained staff to effectively and securely manage them. There are also plenty of offerings for tiny networks of just a few computers (think Staples, and the basic D-Link or Belkin products they sell). They usually cost under $100.
The Challenge: The problem is that small companies don't have tens of thousands of dollars to spend on a firewall, but they need much more flexibility than a $100 device can provide. The end result is that the usually end up running a $100 device and making do, as the other option is simply unrealistic.
The Answer: That's where we come in! We build devices that are specifically designed with small businesses in mind. You get the features you need, but don't have to pay for the enormous marketing budgets and features you don't need from the 'major' vendors - The systems we build start at about $500, and go up to about $3,500 depending on the features you need.
