Currently operating out of an ~8,500 square foot former airplane hangar in East Montpelier, rbTechnologies provides local sourced Information Technology consulting to our roster of ~100 clients in and around Central Vermont (and a few across the country). We are a small company (currently 3 full time and 2 part time folks), but we do a LOT. We provide design, installation, maintenance and support services from basic networking to crazy cool firewalls with dual Internet connections (running Free software we wrote in-house). We design and build Windows servers & workstations, and we have a heavy emphasis on systems running Linux, Samba, LDAP, Kerberos, DHCP, DNS, and all sorts of other network glue to make mixed networks sing in harmony.
We're Open Source advocates and use FOSS when it fits with the Client's needs. We love challenging projects, and take them on regularly.
You:
Un-phased by mild disorganization and project schizophrenia. You love a challenge. You're able to leap technical hurdles in a single Google search. You may have a coffee problem, and that's OK - the office is well stocked with the tools to address your addiction. You must be willing and eager to learn new stuff, because we find new issues and ways to solve them every single day. We provide a large portion of our service at the customer location, so you'll need to have a ride to get around, and more importantly, excellent customer service and interaction skills.
You should have an excellent understanding of TCP/IP networks, and all of the bits and pieces that make them work. Knowledge of Linux/ Unix and Windows server technologies is also very desirable. Previous professional experience in server administration and/ or desktop support required.
